Sailing Yacht Melek Launched By Perini Navi

It seems as just yesterday, that the Picchiotti superyacht Exuma was delivered. Even so, the Perini Navi Group has worked to deliver again. Currently they have announced the launch of their current creation, which is a 56-meter sailing yacht called Melek.

The launching of Melek, marks the 50th yacht production for the company. In consideration, the Perini Navi Group has reached a major milestone for their company. The official launching took place in Italy. In order to mark this milestone they celebrated with a privately hosted ceremony on Saturday at the Perini Navi facility, located in Viareggio.

The creation of Melek, came as a result from the collaborative effort between the naval architects employed through Perini Navi’s, in addition to Ron Holland. The superstructure comes constructed in aluminum. This includes the hull, in addition to masts.

More specifically, the 56m ketch rigged yacht has two fitted masts. As for the booms, they are constructed of carbon fibre and help to give the feel of a classic sailyacht . Overall, the sail plan is approximately 1500 sqm in size.

Both the superstructure and hull finishing took place at the Perini Navi Group’s, referred to as Perini Istanbul. This plant is located within Turkey. Afterward, the Melek was transported across the Mediterranean Sea. After a few days travel, it arrived at the Perini Navi Production Depot, located in Viareggio.

At the Viareggio Production Plant, the naval architects worked alongside Ron Holland in order to optimize the hull and sail plans. As for the creation of the interior design, this was the result of Perini Navi. In consequence, the completed production is an innovative combination of tradition and postmodern design. Ultimately, the interior design speaks style.

The interior uses many modern touches, along with a unique and traditional approach. Some examples of the interior consist of various uses of cherry inlays, in combination with walnut. Both combine to make for a distinctive and modern look.

Additionally, they speak elegance and style. In addition, leather is incorporated into the design as well, along with other unique uses, such as fir, wenge, and parchment, which work well to enhance the overall design. Presently, the mast stepping of the Melek has an expected completion date within the next two months.

Currently, Melek is the ninth production within the 56-metre series. The first production within the 56 metre series was the Burrasca in 2003. Later, this was followed with the launching of the Zenji, which originally was named the Santa Maria.

Soon afterward, came Rosehearty, in addition to Selene, Salute Silvana, as well as Riela, and Panthalassa. Another unit will follow within the series next year. Current plans expect to maintain a similar architecture, while having an interior, which is fully customized.

Overall, the Perini Navi Group has found success within the 2010 season. At this time, they have produced the Perini Navi super yacht Panthalassa, 56m ketch in January. Followed by the Perini Navi super yacht Fivea, 45 m cutter in June and the Picchiotti super yacht Exuma, the 50 m Explorer in July.
