The club’s primary focus is on racing, training, and education, particularly for young sailors but also for adults looking to further develop their skills. The Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club (GKSS) is located in Långedrag and serves as the club’s main base, housing the clubhouse with facilities such as dressing rooms, showers, and a sauna. The clubhouse acts as a gathering place for active members throughout the year. The club also operates the restaurant “Seglarkrogen” on the premises.
During the summer, GKSS hosts various events including regattas, sailing camps, training sessions, and corporate activities. In the winter, different training groups convene to plan for the upcoming season. The club provides extensive training courses, coach education, and organizes several events for its members during this period.
In Marstrand, GKSS has a branch called Korvetten. This facility serves as the regatta office during sailing events and serves as a meeting point for race participants and officials. Korvetten is also used for training camps and occasional conference activities. The building also houses the restaurant Shanti Shanti. Marstrand is the location for many significant racing events, including Stena Match Cup Sweden, RC44 Sweden Cup, Marstrandsregattan, and the members’ regatta Sepemberseglingen.
Æolusön, also known as “Sillfarsholmen” on nautical charts, is GKSS’s private island located in the southern part of Gothenburg’s archipelago. The club organizes sailing camps for children and youth throughout the summer on this island.
GKSS’s Accessability Center aims to provide opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities to engage with various aspects of boating. It offers children and adults the chance to experience and participate in boating activities.
