Filey Sailing Club is situated to the North of the town of Filey. Filey Bay is formed by a natural outcrop of land called the Brigg, which protects the bay from heavy seas from the north, whilst on the south side, the long stretch of cliffs heading toward Flamborough Head prevents heavy seas rolling in from the south.
On Sundays during the sailing season (April to October inclusive), the Club powered boat(s) are on the water to provide assistance for club sailors in the bay.
The Officer Of the Day, is stationed on the Committee boat and runs the races or activities and co-ordinates with the other club powered boats.
All full and family members have to do two duties each season. These may be on Sundays to help with club racing or on other days when we are hosting open events or training courses.
The Club is an RYA recognised training establishment for dinghy sailing, windsurfing and power boating. When a suitable level of proficiency is attained, full members who do not own their own boats may be able to request to borrow the club boats or boards if they are not being used for training.
