José Roselló Prats was one of the organizers of this first act, which brought together 140 people, considered the founding members of the entity, and he was named the Club’s first President.
A company had just been born without assets, without facilities, without even a social premises, but with very specific purposes: to provide Sant Antoni de Portmany with facilities for mooring sports boats and to promote water sports and activities in the bay.
The first transformation of the port of Sant Antoni had taken place at the end of the fifties, with the construction of a breakwater that is still in place, to protect it from northwestern, mestral and western storms.
At the end of 1973, under the protection of this dam, the construction of the first pontoons of the Club began and later the rest were built until the end of the project. The first building that served as the entity’s headquarters was a removable booth that served as offices and hosted the meetings of the Board of Directors. The Club Nàutic was managed from this small facility for 16 years.
