Following some meetings held in Marciana Marina between 1972 and 1973, promoted by a group of enthusiasts encouraged by the then Municipal Administration, the time was deemed ripe to set up a nautical club, the purpose of which was to promote the sport and the practice of sailing, but also of other sea sports such as rowing, fishing, swimming, motor boating and water skiing.
The first years of activity saw the members mainly engaged in teaching sailing.
