Exactly 30 years after the founding of the NRV, i.e. in momentous generations, the “Alster Pirates Club” was founded. In 1898, Carl-Vincent and Richard Krogmann, full of adolescent imagination, formed a kind of water gang together with Otto and Werner Reimers and Edward Booth. The better sons wanted to cultivate their free time on the water – in their father’s and soon in donated, own boats. Superiority was the goal, inferiority was an incentive, and provocation served to determine one’s position. This location quickly became known throughout the city. According to their father’s custom, at the beginning of this century, the Alster pirates circulated a list of drawings from grandmother Laeisz and other senior citizens in order to collect money for a houseboat: 2000 marks were raised for a neat houseboat.
