Whether you are in the neighborhood and need to refuel and restock supplies, or just want to spend some time on dry land, the Yas Island Yacht Club in Abu Dhabi is the place to go. Designed by Omiros One Architecture, this is truly a remarkable destination for weary travelers. This new facility is an iconic landmark to the new Yas Marina, and has a streamlined curvilinear form unlike any seen in the world. In addition, the new Formula 1 race track has already made an impressive addition to the facilities and hospitality of Yas Island already.
This is the first significant project completed my Omiros One Architecture in the Middle East, and has proven that they are a leader in building unique building design and structure. It combines fluid, dynamic forms with nautical themes, as well as the rich heritage of Yas Island. It was also designed to excite the senses, inspire the greatness of the area, and link all the buildings as well as the new Formula One character.
Two distinct buildings make up the Yas Island Yacht Club. Building One is more impressive, boasting many 5 star facilities, including many restaurants, lounges and bars. It also has multifunction rooms, an impressive 45 meter observation tower, and many outdoor decks. The second building maintains a lower profile, featuring a glass courtyard, and this is where the administration and retail components are housed.
The exterior is also a distinguishing feature of the Yacht Club’s design. There are white exterior shells, set against the backdrop of the Formula 1 track. There are also a series of surrounding water features that reflect the sculpted forms of the buildings, and these are set in a garden landscape that complements the building’s architecture. In addition, a matrix of LED crystal facade lights is built right into the shell. This gives the ability for the whole thing to be transformed into giant viewing screens that contrast against the night sky.
There are so many grand things about the Yas Island Yacht Club that not all of them can be mentioned in one small article. The grand foyer has a winding staircase, curved glass walls that surround the observation elevator. A clear glass dome fifteen meters high caps the main open space. The timber veneer and polished metal wall are three stories high and separate the entry way from the cigar bar. This bar has outstanding views marina and canal. There is a VIP lounge on the upper level, as well as private gathering areas, meeting rooms, and dining facilities. This is all surrounded buy the curved roof, which follows the unique design of the building itself. The bow of the club opens out onto three levels of outdoor deck spaces.
In addition to the Yacht Club, Yas Island is an impressive destination. They offer world class hotel accommodations, championship golf courses, and of course a genuine Formula 1 race track, which has already recently been broken in. Here you will find the only Ferrari based theme park, with many thrill rides and roller coasters. There are many shows and concerts available on the weekends, with famous entertainers like the Jonas Brothers, the NBA Jamfest, Gun N’ Roses, as well as so much more.
