On the north bank of the lower reaches of the River Avon Shirehampton Sailing Club can be found.
This small club is ideal for sailors that want to cruise the local area, or try low key racing in a friendly atmosphere.
The sailing area extends for some 2.5 miles in the direction of the River Severn, and several miles in the opposite direction towards Bristol.
A small, grassed area next to the clubhouse is used for barbecues and picnics.
There are also a number of other social events held throughout the year.
Although the club has limited galley facilities, there is a pub, ‘The Lamplighters’, literally across the other side of the road serving hot and cold food.
