Lindblad Expeditions was founded in 1979 by Sven-Olof Lindblad, the son of Lars-Eric Lindblad. In 1984 the company changed its name from Special Expeditions to Lindblad Expeditions. Every cruise is educational, focusing on soft adventure and environmentally conscientious travel.
In 2004 the line became partners with National Geographic and it improved the cruise experience by including experts and photographers on board to lead discussions and hold workshops and help balance “must-see” destinations and less-traveled spots. Company offers voyages to the Galapagos, South Pacific, Indian Ocean, Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic Circle.
Lindblad Expeditions, allied with National Geographic, has a fleet of five capable vessels the capacity of which ranges from 28 to 148 passengers. These ships are definitely not floating resorts and you can forget about luxury restaurants, multiple bars and casinos. But they are more than comfortable as your base for exploring, they are outfitted with cool tools that enable a genuine connection with the places you visit, and offer inviting private accommodations, and gracious public spaces for expedition communities to gather.
Do not expect insane nightlife, floor shows or dance parties. Instead of that you will start your day early exploring most remote places in the world, or snorkelling and diving with an abundance of marine life around you.

Each ship has a fleet of kayaks, scubas, glass-bottom boats as well as video microscopes, cameras and video-microphones: a hydrophone (underwater microphone) is combined with an underwater camera so passengers can listen to whale songs and watch live video of what’s going on beneath the waves.
If you’re looking for a voyage to discover nature and culture with a small group of like-minded people, Lindblad Expeditions’ adventure voyages are your best bet.
