The Bertram 800: Luxury Sportfishing Supremacy

Bertram 800

Owner Richard Bertram began building luxury yachts back in 1961, and has since produced some of the most solidly built, exceptionally seaworthy boat in the Yacht building industry. Part of this is due to the exquisite craftsmanship that goes into each one, part due to the length of time their employees have worked for the company. There isn’t a high employee turn over rate here, and the people take pride in what they are doing. All the materials that go into Bertram yachts are of the highest quality, from the holding tanks for fuel and waste water, to the engines and living spaces.

The Bertram company has also been widely known for their ‘deep V’ designed hulls. Because of this, all their yachts have better trim, displacement and balance that many other yacht designs. This allows for more stability in smooth as well as rough seas, and makes their yachts move faster, with less friction, for a better more fuel efficient ride. The Bertram company, unlike some of it’s competitors, has focused more on the sport fishing industry, bringing comfort and luxury to fishing guest who want to relax after a hard day at the reels.

This holds true for their newest product, the Bertram 800. Not only is it larger than earlier models, but it has superior performance, power, and luxury over many competitors. It features new window designs that are integrated into the hull, with layered tempered glass, and forward window that will actually brighten the salon’s interior, while still being strong enough to handle the harshest weather conditions.

All of the below deck state rooms have been redone, with the master suite a full beam with large porthole windows that will offer spectacular views anywhere in the cabin. It also feature four large cabins, which are completely customizable, as well as separate female and male crew quarters. Another stateroom is also built into the forward space of the galley, which can be utilized for a personal chef, or for extra storage. There will be ample fishing tackle storage spaces on the main deck, as well as holding tanks for anything that guests have caught over the course of the trip.

One of the main problems addressed by the Bertram 800 series is the formation and collapse of vapor pockets under the boat at high speeds. This causes not only a choppy ride, extra wear and tear on the hull itself, as well as the propellers. The Bertram team has been able to modify the lower hull to dissipate these problems, which will improve performance, fuel economy, as give a much smoother ride. This model also features new Anti-rolling Gyro technology, which will reduce the rolling effect that some yachts have problems with, and will decrease rolling by as much as fifty percent.
