Marie: Pearl Of The Sea

Marie

Hoek Design unveiled Marie, a sophisticated and distinguished sailing yacht under construction at Vitters Shipyard.

Marie is a sister ship to the triple award-winning sailing yacht Adèle. The new 180 ft ketch will have an identical hull, keel, rudder and sail plan to Adèle but features a new and entirely customised interior and deck layout. The main deckhouse will be enlarged and there will be no forward deckhouse. This allows the entire deck and interior layout to be tailored to the owner’s taste and requirements.

To improve speed characteristics the developers offered an extensive weight saving programme, which includes composite rigging, high modulus carbon spars, furling booms and lightweight interiors. The hull will be constructed in Alustar to ABS and MCA specifications.

Marie’s interiors will be designed by Hoek Design in cooperation with David Easton Design. The aft owner’s cabin will be directly connected to an owner’s deckhouse and aft cockpit with the helms forward of the owner’s deckhouse.

Marie is the fourth Hoek Design yacht of 180 ft or above to have gone from design to construction. She is scheduled for delivery in 2010.
