The Derecktor 86 meter Cakewalk Project is officially in the final stages. This is believed to be the “Next Big Thing” when it comes to American yacht construction. The Derecktor Shipyards located in the city of Bridgeport in Connecticut has been working diligently on the Cakewalk Project. The final luxury yacht that will emerge from the project will be an amazing 281 feet in length.
The amazing water vessel was introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show in the year of 2008. The Cakewalk Project not only incorporates style, design, and innovation, but it is also incorporating many characteristics that will make it an energy efficient luxury yacht. Currently, Derecktor Shipbuilders is also constructing another energy efficient yacht that is 52 meters in length. The project is known as the Awareness Project. This means that the hull will likely be longer, the beam will be shorter, and even the integration of solar panels.
The Cakewalk Project will include an amazing propulsion system that is actually quite advanced. It will incorporate Azipod drives in order to control the rate and type of propulsion. The speed is believed to average right at an estimated 17 knots.
The crew for the amazing luxury yacht will be anywhere between 18 and 20 individuals that will work to serve approximately 12 individual guests. The actual superstructure will be composed of aluminum and the hull will be composed of pure steel.
